Home Made Power Plant: Does It Honestly Work?

By Tim McDonald

Introduction

We first thought we would battle to actually follow these diy energy plans, but once we got stuck into the Homemade Power Plant guide, the advice and instruction was great. Homemakers and home improvement fanatics will love this guide - we really had to learn as we went along, since customer support was quick but not that much help.

What we like about it:

1: Great illustrations:

Home Made Power Plant definitely had the best illustrations. The diagrams for the solar power instructions were colorful, large enough to actually see, mainly to scale, correctly labeled, and really easy to follow.

2: Nice Freebies

Home Made Power Plant came with some great freebies. It showed how to maintain our systems and what legal issues we may have to consider. But what what really impressed us, were the power-saving tips. Just using those alone, we have saved almost $300 dollars in power bills over the past 5 months.

3: Increases the market value of your home:

What we liked most about Home Made Power Plant, and all the other diy energy guides, is that the systems added value to our home. We thought this was a myth, until we tried it for ourselves. What we did was get a valuation done before and after the system were installed. We were incredibly impressed with results! With only 2 home solar power and wind turbine systems, our house had increased in value by over $5500. They thought we had had the systems professionally installed - but we did not tell them the truth :)

The Negatives:

1 - Poor customer support

We were not very impressed with customer support. We were not sure about the right way to wire up our solar panels to the house. So we decided to contact customer support. But when they replied all they said was, "Read over the chapter in wiring again. It is all there." But what they did not understand was that our circumstances were different to what was outlined in the guide. Luckily we had experience in diy projects, so we managed to figure it out on our own.

Conclusion:

With the best drawings, and helpful free advice, Homemade Power Plant was well written enough for someone with limited technical know-how to follow. The instructions were rather simple to understand, and though customer support could not help us, at least they replied relatively quickly. - 32387
